Construction of a new Waste-to-Energy
plant in the UK

Our client is involved in the engineering, design and construction of Waste-to-Energy plants. The company is responsible for the construction of a new multi-channel waste treatment centre in the United Kingdom.

As part of this project, Domea provided assistance with the commissioning of the installations and carried out the following missions:
  • Cold tests: Supervision of commissioning activities for all trades, Verification of regulatory and functional compliance with PIDs, Input/Output tests, Commissioning of instrumentation, adjustments and verification, etc.
  • Hot tests: Steam flushes, Operation of the installation, Participation in start-up and tests of the turbine generator package, Customer training, Participation in performance tests, Monitoring of the 24-hour operation of the installation, etc.
  • Guarantee: Monitoring of performance and availability of equipment, Lifting of reserves, Supervision of subcontractors

Energy Transition in the French
Overseas Territories

This large-scale industrial construction project concerns an existing biomass power plant in operation in the French Overseas Territories and a port site in operation.

The project consists in converting thermal installations from a coal / bagasse (cane residue) model to 100% biomass fuels with bagasse/wood pellets. It also involves planning the installation of storage domes and conveying systems for wood pellets, both at the port and at the power plant. By the second half of 2023, more than 50% of the island’s electricity will be produced using renewable energies.

Domea teams supported this industrial transformation project in several areas: HSE Management, Field HSE Supervision, Commissioning of new equipment, and Document Control.

Assistance in the Operation of Waste-to-Energy Plants (UVE/UIOM)

Since 2004, Domea has mobilized commissioning engineers and shift leaders in the Environment sector, and more particularly in the treatment of household waste and hazardous waste.

The factories in operation call on Domea for missions of operational assistance (shift leader, shift operator, operations manager) in order to help with the operation of the plant on shifts, to train personnel on site, or to optimize process settings. We also provide Maintenance support during technical plant shutdowns. Our staff has skills in the entire Waste-to-Energy process: furnace/boiler operation, water/steam circuit, flue gas treatment, turbine generator package, steam export.




Construction of a
CSR biomass plant

This project covers the design, construction and operation of a mixed combustion plant equipped with a CSR (solid recovered fuel) boiler intended to supply hot water to the urban heating network of 24,000 homes, and hot water and steam from industrialists in the neighbouring industrial zone. This equipment offers alternative energy that is more virtuous for the environment and promotes the improvement of the local CO2 footprint. This biomass plant will make it possible, by 2025, to recover 50% of the 15 million tons of waste currently buried in France each year.

Domea was involved in different stages of the construction site with different stakeholders: Boiler assembly supervisor, Commissioning manager, Commissioning engineers and shift leaders.

on a paper site

In recent years, online commerce has led to a steady increase in demand for packaging boxes. This demand has taken on unprecedented proportions during the COVID 19 pandemic period. In this context, the recycling of cardboard and waste paper plays a central role. In the past, a paper fiber could only be recycled seven times. Today, modern facilities regenerate fiber more than twenty times before it becomes too short to be reused. In many cases, disposal is costly and problematic because “scrap” is added to the paper fibers.

Our client was involved in the construction of a new thermal power plant, which not only thermally recycles waste, but at the same time provides the heat necessary for paper production.

Domea supported our client in boiler assembly supervision, HSE management, and site administration.

Modernization
of a waste sorting centre

This project concerns a waste sorting facility which processes recyclable waste from 87% of the department’s population. The modernization of the centre makes it possible to recycle waste not previously recovered (yogurt pots, polystyrene trays, etc.) and to increase the efficiency of recycling.

Our client specializes in “turnkey” construction of waste sorting centres intended for public authorities and private operators. On this project, our client is in charge of the design, construction and commissioning of the installation.

Domea was involved in the commissioning phase of the new sorting centre, and in optimizing the operation of the process. Our colleagues also work on other projects of the same type, in new construction or renovation.
